This page explains what personal information Studio Demoyo collects through this website, why we collect it, who else handles it, and the choices you have. We keep it to what we need to reply to you and to keep the website safe.
Who we are
Studio Demoyo, 36 East Road, Belgravia,
Harare. You can reach us on or , or with the contact details in the Contact section of our home page. Use the same details for any question about this page.
What we collect, and why
When you send us an enquiry or a booking request. The form asks for:
- your name;
- your email address (needed if you send by email, optional if you send by WhatsApp);
- your phone or WhatsApp number (optional);
- a location (optional), a preferred date (for bookings) and the service you are interested in (optional);
- the story or message you write.
We use these details to reply to you and to plan any work we agree to do together. We do not use them for anything else, and we do not add you to a mailing list.
Technical information. Like every website, our server sees your network (IP) address, the type of browser you use, the pages you ask for and the time. This sits in standard server records that we use to keep the website secure and to fix problems. To stop floods of spam, the website also keeps a short-lived counter next to your network address, which is cleared automatically within two days.
What we do not collect. Visitors do not create accounts on this website. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
People who write for the website. Staff who sign in to the website manager have a name, an email address and a password (kept in scrambled form), and the website records when they sign in, with the network address and browser type, until that session ends.
How your enquiry travels
- Send via Email. The website checks your details, then sends one email to the studio’s email addresses through an email delivery service (SendGrid). The enquiry is not stored in the website itself. It stays in our mailboxes.
- Send via WhatsApp. The website prepares a message from what you typed, and WhatsApp opens on your device with the message already written. Nothing is sent until you press send in WhatsApp. The website does not keep a copy. From that point WhatsApp (Meta) handles the conversation under its own terms and privacy policy.
Who else handles information
- SendGrid delivers the email when you choose to send by email.
- Google reCAPTCHA protects the enquiry form and the staff sign in page from spam and automated programs. It runs when you open the enquiry form. Google receives technical information from your browser and about how you use the form, in order to tell people from bots, and Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
- WhatsApp only if you choose to send by WhatsApp.
- DigitalOcean provides the server this website runs on.
- Instagram and TikTok. Our pages link to our profiles there. If you follow those links you leave this website, and their own policies apply.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Cookies
Cookies are small files that a website asks your browser to keep. This website does not use cookies for analytics, advertising or tracking. Reading the pages sets no cookies at all. Only these are used:
| Cookie | Set by | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
_GRECAPTCHA | Google reCAPTCHA | Spam protection. It is set when the enquiry form opens (or on the staff sign in page) and helps Google tell people from automated programs. It is necessary for that protection. Google decides how long it lasts. |
sd_session | This website | Keeps staff signed in to the website manager. It is never set for visitors. It ends when the browser closes, or after up to 30 days if “Remember me” was ticked. |
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the reCAPTCHA cookie the enquiry form may not work, and you can then reach us with the phone, WhatsApp and email details on this website.
How long we keep information
- Enquiries are kept for as long as we need them to reply to you and to keep a record of our work together. After that we delete them.
- Server records are kept for up to 30 days.
- The spam counter next to your network address is cleared automatically within two days.
Your choices
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, ask us to stop using it, and take back any permission you gave us. Write to us using the details above and we will answer as soon as we can. If you are not happy with how we handle your information you can also complain to the data protection authority in Zimbabwe, the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ).
Keeping information safe
The website is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection, passwords are stored in scrambled form, and only the people who look after the website and the studio mailboxes can see enquiries. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not put sensitive details such as bank or identity numbers in an enquiry.
Children
This website is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this page
If what we do changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
